leeave96 490 #1 Posted January 30, 2012 I leveled a pile of gravel today. I think it was about 6 tons. It has been setting for MONTHS, but I wasn't about to touch it until I had the time off and a Wheehorse under seat to do this job. Some folks play golf, I enjoy working my Wheelhorse tractors! BTW, this is the tractor I had some carb troubles I posted about in the past few days. Enjoy the pics! The other Bill

Sparky-(Admin) 23,283 #3 Posted January 30, 2012 That last picture looks like the 520 just won the king of the hill award! So whats all the gravel for? Big shed project? Mike........
leeave96 490 #4 Posted January 30, 2012 That last picture looks like the 520 just won the king of the hill award! So whats all the gravel for? Big shed project? Mike........ Parking behind my house - that's all. We added an addition and used the dirt from the basement/foundation to make us a place to park and turn around at the back of my house. The next thing I am going to do, when I get time, is drag out my grader blade and give it a workout. One of my boys looked at the work I did and said, "didn't even have to use a shovel" LOL!!! I'll post some pics of the grader blade in action. Most likely I'll use my mighty 314-8 for this chore since I can regulate how far down the blade drops. Rollerman 290 #5 Posted January 30, 2012 I'm jealous, with this lousy winter we've had so far here in northern IN there hasn't been any seat time. Looks like some fun seat time pushing gravel around.
Jeremy Watson 22 #6 Posted January 30, 2012 Great pictures, thanks for sharing! Thats was a lot of gravel to move, how long did it take you? I pushed some dirt with my last summer and was surprised how well it did, and I didn't even have weights or ag tires.
leeave96 490 #7 Posted January 30, 2012 Great pictures, thanks for sharing! Thats was a lot of gravel to move, how long did it take you? I pushed some dirt with my last summer and was surprised how well it did, and I didn't even have weights or ag tires. I was out there for at least an hour. I purposely didn't get in a hurry. I ain't got 6 tons of gravel to move on a frequent basis. One time though, I did move 16 tons of gravel with my front blade on my 314-8 and with a rigged-up Johnny Bucket mounted to the rear of my other 520H. I think my front blade is slightly twisted as it sags a bit on the right side. That makes it a bit difficult to spread the gravel with the blade a couple of inches off the ground, but the finish smoothing touch was done going in reverse, dragging the blade on the the gravel - worked great. farmer 1,078 #8 Posted January 30, 2012 Thanks for the pictures, and good point about the dial-a-height, hydraulics are easy, but I don't think you get the 'feel' or accuracy as the manual lift. :twocents-twocents:
lincman 3 #9 Posted February 1, 2012 Nice lookin' 520H. Just a quck question. When you have your 520-H at full throttle and the motion lever fully engaged; where is your vacuum gauge/hp% at? On my 520 it is about 50%. Just was curious, as mine just got back to work after some carb cleaning, new spark plugs, tank cleaning, air filter ($28 for just one filter from Chandler's Sales and Service) and fuel filter. Thanks for posting some pics of your Wheel Horse.
