1maidenfan 202 #1 Posted January 28, 2012 OK, trying to get my steering wheel off the steering shaft, wont budge? I have soaked it with p.b.blaster and finely did get the nut to break loose. Now how do I get the steering wheel off? Any thoughts ? Thanks. :thanks:
Trouty56 567 #2 Posted January 28, 2012 OK...this may sound a little dumb but....I fashioned a puller out of 2 pieces of angle steel with a 3/4 inch "U" cut out of the middle of each piece. That fits around the steering shaft under the steering wheel like overlapped from both sides if you get my drift. 2 holes were drilled in the angles on each side of the steering wheel and then I used 2 of the rear attach bracket pieces to pull with using a couple threaded shafts. I found a big nut to place in between to push or pull whatever. Hard to describe but I did remove 2 with it. Mine and one other one. Both looked very rusted and bonded. It took a couple days of pressure for both.
