Callen 64 #1 Posted January 24, 2012 Recently picked up a GT1848, has the twin Briggs. The Charging system wasn't wired. It has the dual system. What am I looking for out of the wires? I have a multi tester. Am I looking for AC voltage or DC voltage? I'm Completely confused on this. Thanks, Chester
TT-(Moderator) 1,147 #2 Posted January 24, 2012 The charging section of the stator should be putting out 2 to 4 amps of DC power. (dependent on battery state) The lighting section should produce about 14VAC at 3600 RPM. Additional specifications and troubleshooting/testing procedures can be found in the appropriate B&S manual. Callen 64 #3 Posted January 25, 2012 Thanks, Terry. My switch only has Off start and run. It doesn't have the R post. It has an L post that is hot on the run position. Can I hook the charging wire to the L post? It starts and runs and shuts off as it should.
TT-(Moderator) 1,147 #4 Posted January 25, 2012 Can I hook the charging wire to the L post? Yes - that would be equivalent to the "R" terminal on the original switch. :handgestures-thumbup:
