Cole 25 #1 Posted January 20, 2012 hey guys, is it possible to use a k241 engine without a fuel pump, i know you would have to fabricate a cover for the block but is it possible.
Sparky-(Admin) 23,216 #2 Posted January 20, 2012 You would need to gravity feed the carb. Mike.......
Cole 25 #3 Posted January 20, 2012 thanks, that does mean hook the carb straight up to the fuel tank right, and it should work?
rmaynard 16,333 #4 Posted January 20, 2012 The fuel tank and fuel line would have to be higher than the carburetor.
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #5 Posted January 21, 2012 OEM fuel pump block-off plate is Kohler P/N 240282-S
Kelly 1,033 #6 Posted January 21, 2012 Lots of Cubs run with out a fuel pump, but the tank is higher than the engine, or at least as high as the head, I've seen many other brand GTs with small Kohlers run with out a pump, mostly 60's machines.
Sparky-(Admin) 23,216 #7 Posted January 21, 2012 Are your thinking about doing this with your B-100? It might be a problem when your driving uphill assuming your using the tank under the hood. Mike..........
Cole 25 #8 Posted January 21, 2012 ok thanks, on my b-100 it is factory that the fuel tank is higher than the head so i will just need to find a way to hide and reroute the fuel line, one question, will i be able to let the fuel line touch the head or is that dangerous? rmaynard 16,333 #9 Posted January 21, 2012 I would isolate the fuel line from anything that gets hot. If I may be so bold as to ask the obvious question, why don't you want to use the fuel pump?
Cole 25 #10 Posted January 21, 2012 i have another tractor that has a bad fuel pump and i dont have the money to spend on it because it was all used up on the b-100 restoration.
rmaynard 16,333 #11 Posted January 21, 2012 Just be sure that the fuel lines are free flowing and that the vent on the gas cap is not clogged. Without a pump pulling the gas, sometimes the flow will stop if there is not enough air getting back into the tank to prevent a vacuum.
Cole 25 #12 Posted January 22, 2012 thank you, i had just went on to ask a question about fuel not flowing and i saw what you said about the cap vent being plugged, checked the vent and sure enough, that was it, not its running like new. thank you for all your help. Coadster32 793 #13 Posted February 2, 2012 I gravity feed my 753 w/o problems. I was told that the motor would studder, but it runs good. Just keep the fuel tamk over 1/2 full, just in case. I just left the fuel pump in place.
