Quick frame question....

Recommended Posts

Duff

I know I've seen this touched on in various posts in the past, but can someone give me a quick down-and-dirty on the differences, if any, between the bare frames of the 300-400-500 series machines - not the stuff that gets bolted to them, just the bare frames?

Thanks very much! :thanks:

I didn't think there was a difference Duff :scratchead: . Even the 520 with the swept front axle is the same frame as far as I know. What are you up to?

the newer 520's have a few extra holes, but other than that I can't think of anything else.

Well.....let's say it's in the "thinking about" stage. Got a bunch of parts kicking around and am scratching my....head....over what to do with them.... :music-singing:

Stay tuned!

...and thanks very much for the quick replies! :text-thankyouyellow:

Hey Duff!

I know next to nothing about these frames, but I can give you a partial answer. My parts/service manual for the 1986 300/400 series tractors shows the SAME frame (part no. 110648) for everything from the 308-8 to the 420-LSE, 8-speeds and automatics alike, and everything in between.

That doesn't mean all the 300/400/500 frames are the same, of course, but it's a start.

Hope this helps.

I think you will find any frame back to about 78 will be about the same, with very minor changes.
