our 16 hp puller was running good but we wanted a little more umph, so I thought I would tear it down and put in a 18hp cam and freshin it up a little. I took the head off and found some scoring on the cylinder this cant be good. then pulled the pan and to our supprise there was a bunch of big metal pieces floating around down there. turns out both of the skirts were busted off of the piston. everything else looks ok. I ordered a new rod, piston and cam today once they arive we will be off to the machine shop.

here are some pictures.

I was shocked. I did not do a compression test because it ran fine started right up and pulled good only reason we tore it down was to put a diffrent cam in and freshen it up. I just hope .030 will get the cylinder cleaned up if not I guess we cheat and if they want to pull the head off and check us out we will put it on the trailer. Our main club has very little rules for the stock class our secondary club can be sticklers but I have yet to see them open a engine up.
