WHEEL HORSE BILL 7 #1 Posted January 14, 2012 Hi, I just got home with a new horse but don't know what year or model this is. I know it has a kohler k161 and the serial number is 57841. I know it's a 600 series but what it is I don't. I picked it up for $25.00 thats correct $25.00. he wanted 50 but got it for 25. when i get my camara workin again i will show you guys pictures. please help I need info thanks wheel horse Bill. TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #5 Posted January 15, 2012 The older tractors aren't part of a series. The only "600 series" there is would be the zero turn mowers in the 80's/90's. The numbers used to identify the 1960 to 1967 models (400, 701, 753, 654, 857, etc) are used to denote horsepower, transmission/starter type, and the year of the 60's decade. If the K-161 (7hp) engine in your tractor is original and the tractor has the rounded hood, it can only be a 701, 702, 753, 704, or 754. Are you able to read any other numbers from the engine ID tag - specifically the "SPEC" number? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

WHEEL HORSE BILL 7 #8 Posted January 15, 2012 Thanks thats the one for sure.it came with cast iron weight. They look like bolen weights. I was just in the garage cleaning it. I think it won't take much to get it ruuning again.The only thing I would love to find is a hood for it .the one that is on it is in good shape but the guy drilled six holes on top and front for more air guess.If you know anyone who has one please let me know thanks again TT. TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #9 Posted January 15, 2012 If that's the only thing wrong with your hood (not rusted out or smashed) you have very low odds of finding something better for a fair price. I haven't seen the hood on your tractor, but I would seriously recommend getting an estimate from a welding or body shop to patch the holes ~ if that is beyond your capabilities / facilities. Thanks again and hopfully i'll have pictures soon.I think i'm going to get it running first then maybe tear it down and redo the horse or leave it original.
