Stack pipe on my 312-8

Recommended Posts

WH Raider10

Hello,

I'm going to put a stack pipe on my 312-8 cause I like how it looks and especially the sound! What would be the best steel I can make one out? Maybe stainless?

I'll also put a support bracket on it and connect it to the bolt were the original exhaust support is connected. Has any of you also put a stack on your wheelhorse??? Please post a picture

so I can have an idea what looks the best so I can start gathering the parts I need.

Thanks in advance!

I have a neighbor that works for a construction company maintaining equipment with alot of small engines. I was going to to change the muffler out on my tiller to redirect the exhaust so I would not have to enjoy the smell when I tilled the garden. His concern was if I used an NPT fitting in the exhaust manifold, it could crack the head. I was going to only use a short pipe nipple as compared to what is being done here. Have any of you guys had issues with this?

As far as using just the nipple, I have seen that done before. People will use it like a "stud" and use standard automotive exhaust piping with a pipe clamp on it. This is the way I'm gonna go, as I have access to a welder. I am going to make the exhaust as you would see it on a car (smaller diameter obviously) and then split the piping so that when I clamp onto the nipple, it can squeeze down on it.

EDIT: Yes, keep your "stack" away from trees. My dad's Kabota has hit quite a few trees with his stack, and now its all bent and tilted lol. He's just lucky it hasn't done any real damage to it.

71_Bronco,

You've got the same idea like I have to make my stack pipe. I'll also split the pipe were it need to be clamped on the nipple. :)
