Neutral safety-switch location? 518-H

Hi all ... this is my first post, so bear with me.

I need to locate, then bypass my 518's neutral-safety switch, so I can fire-up the machine without hot-wiring it. Believe me, diagnosing the location of my problem has been a major headache thus far, but now I know this is what I need.

But where is this switch located? Is it very hard to get to? Schematics and info from the 'Demystification Guide' are no help?

Might anyone here have a photo or diagram of this switch's location -- I will be eternally grateful ...

Just got my first Horse this past spring ... I have to maintain 4 acres of grass where I live ... put simply it's been a real education, but I do love my Horse.

I believe that its the clutch switch behind the left side cover just above the foot rest. you have to check the connections under the center council plate. The wires like to fall off in my experience and its common to bypass the switch.

I thought it was on the right side (while sitting on the machine) just above the footrest and activated by the drive belt idler pulley's mount hitting it, but still accessible the way you mentioned, under the center console plate Scott. Either way if he removes the center plate it'll be right there and obvious.

Should be right side from sitting in the seat. unless its a hydro, then I think they are on the left, but not sure on that.

If it's like the rest of them, it's a "micro switch" mounted to the underside of the console cover plate - right beside the direction control lever. (so the DCL comes in contact with the actuator when in the neutral position)

It IS a hydrostat transmission ... however I already bypassed both switches under the console plate ... the seat switch still works ... so what safety switch could it be? And Where?

I'll check the other 2 locations mentioned above ...

As TT stated..Should be by the DCL here's a pic of were mine is located on my 518-H. Look right beside the neutral position you will see a the silver tab on the micro switch. MIKE

There's nothing in the other two locations - the gear drive tractors have the switch under the belt tensioner arm on the right side, but there's nothing there on the hydro tractors except for an empty hole.

Have you done anything with the switch at the PTO engagement lever? One of those is for the starter circuit.

What about the terminals at the engine to chassis harness connectors? They're know for corroding.

Aha ... sounds like the PTO switch may be the culprit! And I'll check the other location as well... I really appreciate these responses (and the photo).

I did go for a ride this morning, though -- in the sunshine between rain flare-ups! Not bad for New Year's Day -- this thing is a gas to ride, and it's been totally down for 2+ months until yesterday!
