ARE YOU READY FOR THIS ! I HAVE A OLD 1077 . HOW DOES THE IGNITION SYSTEM WORK ON THESE THINGS . I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS A BATTERY IGNITION SYSTEM WITH A REGULATOR ON TOP OF THE STARTER GENERATOR AND A 3 PRONG KEY SWITCH , DID THESE HAVE SOLENOID`S AND WHAT TYPE OF REGULATOR`S DID THEY USE ? I`M NOT SURE IF HALF THE STUFF IS MISSING OR NOT A WIRING DIAGRAM OR SOME THING WOULD BE A BLESSING ON THE REGULATOR - IGNITION AND STARTER/GENERATOR _ HELP

This schematic is for a similar model:

Starter/Generators and mechanical voltage regulators were manufactured by Delco-Remy and were supplied with the Kohler engines.

The original ignition switch was a 3 prong, heavy-duty part by Cole-Hersee. Power for the starter circuit passed directly through the switch and no solenoid was used.
