Commando 6

[commando 6 0]

I purchased what appears to be an orignal 1968 Commando 6. I don't see any Commando 6's on the forum, why might that be?

I'm thinking that "Joe Consumer" walked into his Wheel Horse dealer back in 68 and 69 and opted for the larger Commando-8.

Just my opinion.

From what I can tell, they were made the first half of 1968. Electric/recoil rope start. Appears to be a match to the Commando 8 but is powered with a Teky H60

I think the short frames were a dieing model in 1968 & the Commando 6 didn't have anymore power than the more affordable Lawn Ranger produced that year.

More than likey the consumer was more interested in the new long frame's with there new hi/lo range trans & larger implements.

Wheel Horse still more than likely sold a bunch of the Commando 6's, but they are 40+ years old now.

When a 6 HP tractor with a worn out engine is used up, most likey they rusted away or were scrapped & replaced with something newer & larger.

Here is one for you.  Wrong decals, but everything else is correct other than the rear tires.  Just missing the red indicator light on the dash, however the cigarette lighter works.

I have a commando 6 and a 657 they are both in great condition probably because they spent most of there lifes being broke down!! Loops did I say that out loud """ all joking aside I do like them
