philpjuk 19 #1 Posted December 28, 2011 The input bearing failed and turned within the casting badly scoring it,as I am in the UK parts are a little slow to purchase, and the grass was still growing so with a bit of angle iron, two plummer bearings and some 1" dia stainless which I had and a pulley which I had to buy I lashed this up which has now finished its third season. Duff 206 #3 Posted December 28, 2011 Nice job of designing and building a worthy replacement! Hats off to you, sir! Duff
Sparky-(Admin) 23,147 #4 Posted December 28, 2011 So with this setup are you unable to lift the deck? The pulley "tower" you built looks high. Mike........
philpjuk 19 #5 Posted December 28, 2011 Was the same height as the original cast bracket but when I used it on a "tachomatic" hydro I had to move the bearings next to each other and shorten the shaft, also had to make a new front hanger and fit a lift lever! all a bit of a shame as the deck is as rotten as a rotten thing! looks like a lot of welding in the new year! phil.
