Callen 64 #1 Posted December 27, 2011 I see some of these 8 hp tractors have an engine mounting plate. Can I use this plate to mount a 301 AS to my Charger 12 Auto? Thanks, Chester
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted December 27, 2011 The easy answer is "no" - at least not without modifications to the plate. I did a Ford to Power King K301 swap for a neighbor a few years ago and made adapter brackets out of angle & flat steel. I should have taken real photos, but didn't. I do have this "drawing" from when it was previously discussed though. side view:
Callen 64 #3 Posted December 28, 2011 Thanks Terry, I still have the shaker plate I could use. Will the alum. pans from a 241 AS fit on the 301 AS?
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #4 Posted December 28, 2011 The pans should interchange ..... but not guaranteed (by me) without actually looking/comparing. You can add the mounting blocks to the Charger frame and use the entire isolation cradle assembly, but then you can't use the front mount on the drive belt guard. A workaround for that issue is to replace the rubber mounts with rigid pieces so the engine can't move.
