snookman1 1 #1 Posted December 25, 2011 i recieved this horse for christmas. the guy my parents bought the tractor from said it was a 1961. can anyone help? the motor is a techy pull start but looks to be only a 3.5hp, a 1961 should have a 5hp. also if it is a 1961 551 should it have the key switch? i guess i'm looking for any info you all can throw my way. here is a picture of what i got. The 551 would have a 2 piece cast trans and a 401 would have a 3 piece trans with only the center piece being cast. 551 from the factory came with a 5.5 hp Lauson H55 and the frame and hoodstand should have a place for a battery on the right side Looks like a very nice tractor and appears to be a 401. The 401 would have a stamped sheet metal hoodstand with a Kohler K91 4hp motor from the factory. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
