Attaching an electric starter on a B80?

Recommended Posts

Duluth

Hi,

I just bought a B80. The starter was off it and the pinion gear shot. I've found a new starter. Now I need to know what size bolts are used to attach it and which wires hook up where.

Please and thank you.

Mike

The correct bolts are Kohler p/n X71-S - which are 3/8"-16 X 1"

They are a bit different than your typical hardware store bolt because they have a special shoulder to fit tight through the starter motor mounting bracket.

I suppose you could use "regular" bolts if you have to.

The cable from the starter solenoid should be the only thing that's unhooked. It attaches to the stud on the starter motor.

TT,

Thank you! I will try to find the right ones, but now I also have a back-up plan!
