c141 showing negative on ammeter

Recommended Posts

After restoring my c141, the battery has been dead. After charging the battery, it starts fine but the ammeter reads negative and

after using the tractor it will not restart unless I charge the battery. Any idea's?

the very first place to look is your grounds, especially the recifier ground,it is common for it to go bad, check that your battery cables are clean and tight,if that doesnt work you are gonna need a volt meter to check if you are getting the proper voltage, which you will have to post again and someone will help you out

found a bad wire connection at switch. thought that would fix problem. not so lucky. used the kohler trouble shooting guide to learn that the rectifier

is bad.

TT

Was it charging prior to the restoration?

I thought it had a bad battery so I blamed low voltage on the battery. This explains a lot.
