LeonardS 0 #1 Posted December 7, 2011 I have a 400 and a 551 that I want to order decals for while they are on sale. The 551 decals come in a set of 5 decals but the 400 decal set only comes with the 2 hood decals. What other decals are needed for a complete restoration on both tractors? My tractors were not properly decaled when I purchased them, so your help is appreciated! Leonard
CasualObserver 3,411 #2 Posted December 7, 2011 As far as I know, the 400 only has three decals. The two hood side decals that say Wheel Horse Suburban and a Uni-Drive decal that said Patent Applied For. I know I've seen discussion of that in the past somewhere. The shift pattern and serial number were both engraved into the throttle control plate so there were no decals for them. The 551 should have six decals I think.... The "bowtie" looking two hoodside decals, a shift pattern decal, serial number decal, the "Depress clutch when starting" decal and a unidrive patent decal. Depending on when it was made, the Uni-drive decal could say Patent Applied For (which is most likely) or it could have a patent number 2988185. The patent was issued June 13th, 1961, so that decal changed sometime after that. Again... info from an old discussion somewhere. Both of these of course need their correct engine decals too... but that depends on you having the correct engines.
