Raider 12 NOT Charging

Went to the Garage and Started the Wheel Horse Started Great .Turned the lights on and started plowing. Some were along the line lights weren't on any more. Shut light switch off and kept plowing but I never shut the machine OFF.Done plowing put the plow in the garage thought I would check the fuse going to the cigarette lighter fuse was good I THOUGHT WHAT the HECK ??? Grabbed the test light grounded it on the battery turned the key to assesory VERY VERY dim light when hooked to lighter!

OH OH took the test light off tried to start the tractor ITS DEAD ! WERE DO I go from HERE I am LOST and all I own is a test LIGHT !!! I have a Buddy with a meter were do i start to see if I am charging or what the PROBLEM is any HELP would be GREAT!!! T MIX

Jump start it and see if the gen is actually charging. Would be step one for me.

You should also invest in an inexpensive multi-meter. You can often get them at Sears for $10. This will allow you to see voltage changes while the tractor is running.

I had a similar problem with mine and it ended up being a loose connection. When it was running it was only getting about 12 volts on the meter. If its truly charging the system it will read in the 14 volt range

Guess I should specify. The loose connection was at the regulator. Just wiggled it and it seemed to fix the problem so disconnected it and cleaned it off with a wire brush. No problems sense.

First rule of electrical troubleshooting on a Wheel Horse - check all of your grounds.

First thing is to get the electrical schematic. Get it cranked and see if the regulator is putting out 14 volts DC.
