Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted November 29, 2011 Most cubs use the small base block, if your WH uses the shaker plate, it is the small base, but all other 12hp WH's use the wide base block, the K301a is the wide base, the K301as is the small base, look for other issues like dip stick location, and you will need the crank out of your WH engine, most all Cubs use a 1" crank, WH use 1 1/8" if your not sure on what I'm talking about as for wide and small base blocks look at how the oil pan mounts, that is the diff. Kelly 1,033 #6 Posted December 7, 2011 Most JD engines have the small pan, but I have 2 12hp JD engines here that will except both style pans, but most don't, you would have to look, and probably the JD engine will have a 1" crank, but that can be delt with. mark89 0 #7 Posted December 8, 2011 found a engin that will work an bought it only thing i am not shore of is the starter an if i need to swap the bearing plate or not have a few pics
rwilson 128 #8 Posted December 8, 2011 Looks like the block is recessed for the High mount starter. it also appears that the bearing plate is notched out as well. Looks like you are good to go!! Good luck with your project.
