12 hp kohler

have a 12 hp koler that has been bored 30 an smokes prety bad from what i have been told the block cant be bored any more but i have a 12 hp out of a cub cadet can it be used as a starting platform to rebuild for mine

Most cubs use the small base block, if your WH uses the shaker plate, it is the small base, but all other 12hp WH's use the wide base block, the K301a is the wide base, the K301as is the small base, look for other issues like dip stick location, and you will need the crank out of your WH engine, most all Cubs use a 1" crank, WH use 1 1/8" if your not sure on what I'm talking about as for wide and small base blocks look at how the oil pan mounts, that is the diff.

The block is smaller and a different shape where the oil pan attaches.

ah i got ya now i have a jd with a 12hp that a guy down the street willl sell me for a 100 bucks but idk if it is a diffrent size bottom or not

Most JD engines have the small pan, but I have 2 12hp JD engines here that will except both style pans, but most don't, you would have to look, and probably the JD engine will have a 1" crank, but that can be delt with.

found a engin that will work an bought it only thing i am not shore of is the starter an if i need to swap the bearing plate or not have a few pics

Looks like the block is recessed for the High mount starter. it also appears that the bearing plate is notched out as well. Looks like you are good to go!! Good luck with your project.
