AMC RULES 37,180 #1 Posted November 27, 2011 Wondering if anyone else has experienced the negative visibility issues with the vinyl windows in snow cabs? Mine seem noticibly more hazy and scratched up this year than I remember in the past. Can anyone recommend any products, or proceedures that produce good results, to help me inporve visibility before the snow starts flyin' again? :thanks:
Operator 7 #2 Posted November 27, 2011 Don't use paper towels, use terry cloth style. Don't use normal window cleaner like Windex, you need to use plastic cleaner. I use the same for my camp [golf] cart windows that I do on the cab windows. Randy
dodgeramsst2003 3 #3 Posted November 27, 2011 You can go to the marina and they make a cleaner for the isinglass since it's the same thing they use on boat camper tops. it's sort of like a polishing compound and will remove yellowing and haze.
AMC RULES 37,180 #4 Posted November 27, 2011 Uh oh, I was afraid the windex was the culprit. :dunno:
AMC RULES 37,180 #5 Posted November 27, 2011 So with the marina polishing, from your experience, would that be a once a year application process? :dunno:
MikesRJ 558 #6 Posted November 27, 2011 I have seen the 35 mil clear plastic from Jo-Ann Fabrics used with great results.
dodgeramsst2003 3 #7 Posted November 27, 2011 How often you need to polish them depends on a lot of things, exposure, care etc. I have only had to polish the windows on my boat tops once. I've since sold the boat so I don't know how they are holding up now though. If you need to get new window material, try atrim dot com or rochfordsupply dot com. They are great to deal with and usually have much better quality material that you will find at any retailer (read heavier) I've made a few tops and such for my boats. If you were closer I could recommend a local place that has anything you could ever want, but I don't think they ship.
AMC RULES 37,180 #8 Posted November 27, 2011 Well I do appreciate the quick replys guys. Other than haze and light scratches, I have no structural damage so I don't plan on replacing them anytime soon. I'm thinking that a good application of the right product, and a liberal amount of elbow grease should do the trick for me. The tip about the marina product works for me, as we live within walking distance from the Hudson River. With local marinas less than 5 minutes from the house, I'll run by one of 'em later this week and report back at that time with any positive results. :dunno:

CasualObserver 3,410 #10 Posted November 29, 2011 I've used Novus plastic polish to clean and repair scratches and haze on these snow cab windows with very good results. You can find it on ebay reasonably.
MalMac 1,332 #11 Posted November 29, 2011 Novus is good stuff. I just got some off of ebay at a good price. It really cleans them up nice and really puts the clear back in. I saw what one member on here did with his using Novus and it was remarkable. They also have a web site you can go to and read about it. The best price I found for the kit was on ebay. CasualObserver 3,410 #12 Posted November 29, 2011 pictures are always worth more I suppose.... I used Novus on this cab... and traded it to Charlie to put on his D-250. I didn't work on it too hard... and was pleased with the results. Had I intended to keep the cab, I probably would have spent a little more time on it and got them even cleaner. wheelhorse656 20 #13 Posted November 29, 2011 wonder if this would work on the doors on the cabnit blaster?
