My single stage handled this storm just fine. Low 1 or low 2 and she just slogged that heavy snow away. What tractor and blower did you try?

I'd be happy to see if I can help...

Micah, meant to ask, does your town pay you for blowing the road for them?? :dunno: I used the plow on the raider, too heavy here to blow.

I used a single stage blower on my 417A tractor.I have yet to hook the two stage blower up to the 419XT.did you handle the oct storm also good?maybe i am doing something wrong because i have always plowed and never used a snow blower attachment.

New Gloucester appreciates the help with the snow removal :dunno: I have to clear about twenty feet of the roadside so the mail lady can get to my mailbox. The mailbox is mounted near the utility pole so kids won't take batting practice and the town plow won't plow it down.

My single stage handled this and the Halloween storm just fine. Are you using the outside pulley of the PTO? Many people make the mistake of using the inside grove pulley like they would for the mowing deck. The other common problem is that the pto bell housing is not tight enough which makes it slip on the friction disc.

Couple of things to look at...

Micah i just looked and i am using the outside pulley.I forgot to ad i snowblowed this morning and it threw snow like a champ but i was going alot slower this morning.Yesterday morning i had to be to work and tried to rush it and the shout was getting clogged so i jumped on the other tractor with the blade and plowed it quick then i had to go because people were losing power and i had to assist.rex

i found it a learning curve also, ive plowed for so many years that i think i was trying to go like plowing, slow and steady in the heavy stuff, but they work real good when its cold, then you can go faster

You will have plenty of opportunity if the snow keeps falling like the last two storms. Maybe another year for big snowfall. I tried the single stage yesterday and it worked great like Micah said. I did get a couple of quick videos I will be uploading to YouTube shortly.

Just a quick thought on this subject.......

I haven't bought a blower for my tractors (yet!), but until I do I've found that if I spray the inside of the chute of my Ariens walk-behind with a healthy dose of cheap-o cooking spray (generic form of PAM or some such) I don't have any clogging issues at all, even in the heaviest, wettest snow. Even with the spray, though, I do have to watch my forward speed or I get ahead of how fast the auger can pull the snow into the housing. If I start to "plow" with too much speed, then the snow packs and the whole process goes to h*ll.

Just one man's experience......

duff i am going out to buy some cooking spray but since talking to the guys on here i know i went to fast when snowblowing.Like i said i have always plowed with a truck and a tractor so the snowblowing is new but if we keep getting snow i will be an expert soon.
