KC9KAS 4,744 #1 Posted November 22, 2011 I have a 654 that has been altered, and am having drive belt slippage! I need the distance from the center of the crankshaft to the center of the pulley on the transmission. I also need the diameter of each pulley, and if you know the correct belt, I would appreciate that too. I guess it is possible that the pitch on my belt is incorrect for this tractor. Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted November 22, 2011 I don't have the measurements for you, but the belt part no, is old no. 1576 updated no. 9691 and it is a 1/2" 70" belt, I recommend a factory belt, (about $23 from Toro) I've used TSC belts they are grabby.
KC9KAS 4,744 #3 Posted November 24, 2011 I installed a GATES PoweRated belt that was suspposed to be a really good belt. It was a 1/2" X 70" and worked fine last winter, but started slipping while moving gravel this summer. Maybe it has just stretched. I don't think there are any adjustments for belt tension on these tractors, unless maybe a heavier spring on the clutch belt pulley. I sure hope it is a belt problem and not something in the transmission.
KC9KAS 4,744 #4 Posted December 1, 2011 I installed a new (9691) belt from TORO and all is well again! BTW it was $30 and some change + tax! I hope it lasts for a while!
