wingrider 21 #1 Posted November 13, 2011 I have a 1974 C160 that I've had now for about 4 years and lately its started to make a noise after it gets really warmed up. After much thought I've decided to pull motor off a take off the pan and see what the problem might be. So today was the day to get the motor off so we can give a look, and this is how the first question came up. The wires that come out of the blower housing and go to rectfier at the plugin are no problem but the little beige wire going from the plug up to the ignition swith is all one piece, so how do I unhook this wire short of cutting it and putting in another connection to plug it back in. I also have a little B80 that I just got and it has a litte shaft sticking out of the pulley side of the block just behind the points cover. While the motor is running this shaft is turning, is this a common problem, and what is suppose to hold this shaft inside motor? Any help would be great. rmaynard 16,333 #2 Posted November 13, 2011 As was stated before, that shaft should not be sticking out of the engine, and it should not be turning. You need to take that one apart and find out why it is poking through the block. It should be held captive by a slightly smaller hole on that side than on the flywheel side where it is inserted. It is the pin that hold the camshaft in place and that the cam rotates on. The connectors can be removed from the plug by inserting a small flat screwdriver into the plug from the open side. You will see a small notch above the slot. The small blade goes in there and releases the tab that holds the connector in the plastic housing. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
