stevasaurus 23,298 #1 Posted November 11, 2011 We had our first measurable snow yesterday (Thursday), so it was time to get the snow force ready. I have been wanting to get this STR-324, that has been in the shed for 30 years, mounted again on the 857. The B-100 did a limited amount of service last year. I needed to order the bushings that mount between the mounting bracket and the front of the horse...got them through Motion Industries for $6.50 plus shipping. #FB 612-4 SINT BRZ BRGS. I used 1/4" Nylon cord in place of the wire for the shute...looks like it may work real good. Can't wait for the snow now...Rock & Rye guys. :dunno: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Lane Ranger 11,439 #12 Posted November 13, 2011 Steve: Looks like you are all set. Thanks for posting the info on the bushings for the snowthrower. One of mine fell off last year in the thinck of the snow and I did not realize it was off. The Nylock came loose on that 8/1/2 bolt that goes thru the first hole on the frame to hold the snowthorwer on. I use the B-80 and 42 inch plow and the Lawn Ranger with the snowthrower with different the snowfalls. The real wet stff can be a problem for the snowthrower at times. But I am still amazed at waht they will do. I found the bushing in April on the side of the drive were my snowplow must have pushed it up into the grass at the edge of the concrete! I thought of making a straight 8/1/2 pin to go through that front frame hole on the snowthrower frame with push pin holes on either end instead of the threaded bolt. Might be easier to place on and off. I coat my snowthower inside with a product called Snow Jet that works great and you can spray it on two or three times during the season. The chute may take a little more. Works great when it is very cold. Your Kohler on the 857 should work great for that STR-324 snowthrower. The guides to hold the belt in place can be made of good wire and set on the side engine bolts. I did not have originals and made my own. Keeps the belt on the snow thrower from flapping and get excess wear. My six horse H-60 Tecumseh won't throw that snow 20 feet -most days its operating- but I always say it beats shoveling and you still get to ride your tractor! stevasaurus 23,298 #13 Posted November 13, 2011 Lane, those bushings were a perfect fit. 3/8" ID...3/4"OD...perfect depth...1" flange...I cut a 3/8" threaded rod to fit. I put a flat washer and a nylok nut on one end, and a flat washer, lock washer and a regular hex nut on the other. Ready to go. No, the 702 is over at my Mom's with a blade on it. It will see some snow this year, but will be the backup horse for the main part. I wanted to use the B-100 this year since it called in sick for most of last year.
