Downpressure with snow blade

Hi all i was thinking about down pressure with a hydro tractor and keeping the front wheels on the ground being the problem. I was wondering if anyone has made a solid link that is slotted at one end so that the blade can float a little but when the lift is in the full down position it exerts downpressure. I want to be able to scrape the tire marks off the driveway during the winter and i was wondering what you guys do for downpressure Would the slotted solid link idea work? If anyone has done this can i get the dimensions of the bar?

For what blade and tractor combination? There is a factory solid lift link for some, and other people have made their own. Just replace the chain with a piece of 3/16"x 1" flat stock whatever length you need, drill two holes and bolt or pin it in.

How about just adding weight to the blade? This will still allow it to move with the surface and not cause you to loose steering.

I am going to use my C175 for plowing but i don't have a A-frame plow for it yet. I was thinking slotted at the bottom of the solid link so that the plow could float a little when the lift was about 3/4 of the way down but if i put the the lift all the way down it would put downpressure on the blade. Do you guys see any obvious problems with this.

the one problem is the reduced lift height and you wont get full down force either but it may be enough for what you need,you will have to experiment with it

Wheel Horse plows already have a slotted area where you pin on the lift link to allow for some give with a hydraulic or electric lift setup that doesn't have a float feature.
