truckin88 104 #1 Posted November 7, 2011 I just gave my dad my 310-8 and it ran good all year, but it has had an issue, that after releasing the clutch it waits about 10-20 seconds to actually move. The clutch pedal returns normally, just the tires don't go right away. Bad drive belt??? it is a 91 310-8, once moving it works great. This is in all gears. Rollerman 290 #2 Posted November 7, 2011 Check the axle hubs for a loose one?
Kelly 1,033 #3 Posted November 7, 2011 You say the pedal returns normal but is this the model with the gas shock instead of the spring for the clutch? I've heard of them going bad and slow acting.
truckin88 104 #4 Posted November 7, 2011 there is no gas spring just a regular clutch spring.
truckin88 104 #5 Posted November 7, 2011 I have had loose axle hubs and they travel on the shaft which these never have, but I can check they are dual set screw hubs....which would stink since I just sold a set....
Rollerman 290 #6 Posted November 7, 2011 If you don't find a loose hub I would pull the belt guard & check the condition of the belt, idler, spring, & both drive & driven pullies.....the pulley on the traans has been known to come loose just like the hubs can. Irv 115 #7 Posted November 7, 2011 Sounds like the belt may be slipping (probably hard and shiny) til it gets warm and grabs.
Kelly 1,033 #8 Posted November 7, 2011 Might be the belt, I have one here that the clutch pulley comes up and hits the belt guard and never does get the belt tight because it is worn out, and I'm pretty sure it is a blue aftermarket belt, OEM belts are best for the drive belt on a 8 speed tractor.
