rexman72 210 #1 Posted October 21, 2011 I went to check out a wheelhorse tiller that is from 1986 and looks pretty rough. The guy wants 50 bucks for it.The question i have is it looks like oil is leaking from the gearbox.I would assume that the tiller needs seals to fix the problem.Do you think its worth the 50 bucks not knowing how much i would have to put into it. dennist 139 #2 Posted October 21, 2011 Rex, If you do not get it let me know! I hope that answers your question. Make sure all the mule drive/lift and misc. items come with it, so if the tines are shot you still will get your money out of those items.-

Hydro 131 #5 Posted October 21, 2011 It's 3 hours away from me and the asking is $350.00, too much, and there is nothing else. I checked out the toro parts viewer, it's an '81. I would have no way of finding the parts up here that I need to make it complete but it sure looks good.

Kelly 1,033 #8 Posted October 22, 2011 The tiller that is in the pictures is for a vert shaft tractor, but I would grab any tiller that fits the horizontal shaft tractor for $50 even with out the mid pulleys, in ruff shape it's worth that, if the tines are in good shape they are worth double that. Kelly 1,033 #10 Posted October 22, 2011 Finding the idler pulleys for tillers is not common, but they show up from time to time on ebay, but bring good money, I know a few members here have built their own, not hard to do if you have some fab skills, a guess would be about $30-40 in parts including the new pulleys, and spring.
