New to me Round Hood

Recommended Posts

Gunny

Have been looking for a while, finally found a Round Hood down here in East Texas. What's better, was only about 75 miles from the house and the price was right. Owner says it is a 1957, he has replaced the motor with a Tecumseh. Missing some guards, I think. No Serial Number tag. Transmission number is B23-9. Runs good, Mower good, Tranny seems to be good. Any assistance with some details on this would be great!

Looking at your pictures, it could be a 1957 RJ35. Check out the Wheel Horse picture gallery on the main page. Nice find down there in Texas. :thumbs2:

You have an RJ-58 or 59. The theory on the tranny numbers would put the casting date at Feb 23 1959. Most of us RJ guys are still looking for the elusive RJ-59 with a serial tag that identifies it as one. Most of the tags are gone like yours. The 58s and 59s are identical tractors but some parts could be a newer version of the parts on the 59s.

A 1957 RJ would have a different transmission.
