D-250 question

Hi guys, I am home from work for a couple of days cuz I hurt my back (Damn this gettin old sucks). Anyway, I think I had an epiphoney. What type of frame set up do the D series tractors have? Are they an open frame design? Do they have a rear facing crank design (I have never really looked at one)? The reason I ask, I have aquired a 3 cylinder diesel engine complete with the radiator and all (auctions can be so much fun). I was thinking perhaps a D-250. Or any D series I can shoehorn this bad boy into. Anyone have a picture of one minus the engine? As usual, any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Pat

Pat, I have a D-200 and can tell you that the engines in the D-160, 180 & 200 all sit with the crankshaft parallel to the frame. And I think they all share the same frame (not positive on that). The D-250 was a different animal. Its engine also sat with the out put to the rear but I believe the frame is longer since the engine was a four cylinder Renault engine. I would think the D-250 would probably be your best bet for that three cylinder diesel engine since there would be a little more room for it.

Sounds like an interesting project. Be sure to keep us posted and include some pics!

Good luck,

KT
