zieg72 209 #1 Posted June 20, 2008 I thought I would bring this up once again. My voltmeter is showing past 16Volts. I replaced both ends on the beige wires to the regulator and added a ground. Any other suggestions out there to try? I took off and cleaned all the connections and made sure the added ground wire was tight. I started the tractor and it was fine for (between 14-14.5 volts green area) for about 15 seconds, then the dash lights got brighter and the gauge went past 16V. Any thoughts??? Old Dave 0 #2 Posted June 20, 2008 Sounds like your voltage regulator is not regulating if your battery voltage is going to +16VDC. I wouldn't run it long otherwise you will cook that battery.

I agree, your regulator has gone south. You can get one from the dealer or find a dealer that sells Sten's replacement parts and get one for half the price. zieg72 209 #4 Posted July 2, 2008 I just hit the buy it now button on Ebay. I have one coming for $44 and some change. I will hopefully post a successful fix in a week or so.
zieg72 209 #5 Posted July 14, 2008 Got the regulator put in, fixed.... Thanks guys. Cut the front, sure love this tractor with the 60" swipe.
92Pony 1 #6 Posted July 15, 2008 Zieg, so the regulator fixed your issue? Were you also getting gauge fluctuation? I've noticed lately that my 520h has some charging, um, irregularities. The needle jumps rather wildly sometimes, and at night, the lights will change between normal, dim, and really bright. Reckon my reg. has bit the big one as well? zieg72 209 #7 Posted July 15, 2008 Add the extra ground wire like I did to rule out an intermediate ground issue. But mine would work for 15 seconds and then the voltmeter would go past 16V. After I took the old regulator out it was very apparent it was shot as the clear they pour into the electronics was raised on one end and green corrosion was present. Got mine from Ebay, under $45 to my door.
