A little lost- my 1960 suburban trans will not go into gear when running unless I depress clutch and put the heel of my boot on the drive pulley any thoughts? Also I need to know the axle seal numbers.

There is an adjustment that you can make to the brake band to time out the idler pully from un-tensioning the belt, and when the break grabs. You need a belt guard in place as well, as this helps with not throwing the belt when the clutch is pressed. I also put a "finger", (bend bracket) on the idler pully to help with this scenario. The problem isn't with the trans. itself. The sizes for the seal are 1"ID, 1.25 OD. You can just go to napa, kaman, skf, mcmaster carr, to get the seals. They are readily avail. Good luck.

I agree with Chris, your problem sounds like the belt isn't disengaging. Dug up this old post about Suburban belt fingers with some pictures to explain.

551 Suburban Tecumseh - made this belt guide by cutting the head off a bolt. Works great.
