Kelly 1,033 #11 Posted October 1, 2011 Very nice haul, all early stuff that is hard to do, and that is not a 702, wrong front axle, I'm going to say a 633 with that engine and all the other clues.
wallfish 18,215 #12 Posted October 1, 2011 Nice! That early 58 is like mine with the round hubs and the cruder style hitch. I had to make my own leather boot. What is that serial#? Mine has the front rims and tires like the older RJ35s but yours could have been changed.
clintonnut 126 #13 Posted October 1, 2011 That engine you have pictures of is a 4.5hp clinton model 499 vertical shaft engine. Just like a 498/B1290 but has crank bushings and pneumatic governor. Charlie

whlpny 203 #22 Posted October 2, 2011 You have a very early Rj-58- that hitch is CORRECT!! The hubs were left over castings from Pond Walk-aways only drilled with 3 holes- and a keyway broached into them. They carry the same casting number. Don't loose that shift boot- very Rare piece and original to that tractor. Notice in that shift boot pic- there is no welded frame tie between the rails where it butts to the trans-another indicator of an early RJ-58. The clutch pedal is correct also. These early RJ's also came with a Clinton. I have one that if I recall is #321.Mine also has the older style front wheels -its possible someone swapped yours out. Very good find you did well. wallfish 18,215 #24 Posted October 2, 2011 There's no lip on the outer edge of the rim. Here's a pic and you can look in the gallery.
