TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #3 Posted September 25, 2011 I see a Tillotson updraft carb on a Kohler engine, so I'll guess 1963 633. :thumbs2:
fourwheels0 191 #4 Posted September 26, 2011 tt thanks. are those kolher engines or carbs hard to work on or get parts for?. the owner says it won't start. those are pull start motors correct?.
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #5 Posted September 26, 2011 If it's the original K-141T, the ignition coil can be expensive if it needs replaced. They can be changed over to the next newest type, but they are even getting tougher to find. The Tillotson updraft carbs aren't the easiest to find parts for either, but it can always be traded off for a "conventional" Carter model "N".
danjmah 74 #6 Posted October 18, 2011 fourwheels0 - I too saw this on CL and purchased it. It is a 1963 633, with a Kohler K141T s/n: 692470 spec: 29104A and Tillotson carb. The PO listed it on 09/25/11 but did not contact me until two days later. In the ad he stated: 'Wheel Horse lawn tractor, 32inch cut, about 50 years old in poor condition. Can't get Kohler engine to start. Fix it or use for parts'. It had no spark, so I popped off the flywheel and found one of the coil wires was hanging on by a thread. Fixed that and now it has a spark. Runs great as you can see in the attached video. The only other major fix I had to do was the original exhaust elbow had a hole in it and was frozen in the block. I managed to get that out without any issues but it wasn't easy. Everything else seems great thx to the PO. Video of my 633 Idling
