DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #2 Posted September 24, 2011 First Alarm - tractor fire - burial where it lays... Did you survive unscathed? Any ideas as to the cause? I've been meaning to keep a couple of those small disposable fire extinguishers outside somewhere easily accessible. You just gave me motivation to do that. KC9KAS 4,744 #3 Posted September 24, 2011 Sorry to see your loss due to a fire. My insurance man once told me that a mower was "a necessity" and was covered under my homeowners insurance....Hope your is covered!
zieg72 209 #4 Posted September 25, 2011 I nearly lost my 92 520H when I first got it. It didn't have the battery hold down and a tree limb snagged the negative cable and drug the battery where the + lead was grounded out on the frame. Luckily the tractor died when the smoke started and I was able to move the battery away before the wires got too toasty. I just has to replace the + cable and the battery shorted out as well... Raider12 13 #5 Posted September 25, 2011 My insurance man once told me that a mower was "a necessity" and was covered under my homeowners insurance KC9KAS is correct! This should be covered under MOST home owner policies. But keep in mind a lot of insurance companies will cancel you if you have more than 1 claim with in a 3 year period! shorts 182 #9 Posted September 28, 2011 I hope no one got hurt, any idea what/why it burned, fuel leak or overfill or an electrical problem? I'm curious so that other people can learn and possibly prevent another fire.
CasualObserver 3,411 #10 Posted September 28, 2011 Can't hurt to throw a call to Toro's customer service department. Sometimes they want to know about/see stuff like that to determine whether or not there is faulty construction/design/parts to blame.
