jachady 130 #1 Posted September 24, 2011 Hey guys, I need some help. I am trying to find some information on a Work Horse 700. I found in the model list that they were only made in 1969, are they rare? I found one in good overall condition except its got a donor Techy motor. Still has the original Wheel Horse tires. Is this a desireable tractor? John
Hammerhead 817 #2 Posted September 24, 2011 Yes I'd say it was a fairly rare tractor. Not too many of them around, I have one with the original 7 hp Techumseh, bar lug rear tires and a 36 inch mower deck and WH bar type headlights. Like you said, only made one year and that was the last year for the square hood design of the mid to late 1960's. Prolly worth $200 to $400 if descent. Maybe more if in clean condition. Go get it! rydogg 186 #3 Posted September 24, 2011 I have found a couple in my area the first picture is a parts machine that I own and the other picture is a complete machine with a doner tecky and seat otherwise it's original I believe. If you need parts PM me (tires and engine not for sale) also I will be listing the other tractor for my friend sometime in the future.
SAM58 30 #4 Posted September 27, 2011 I have one that is all original, little rough but run like new. it had been setting for ten years, I put a battery, and gas in it and it started up with no problem. 7 HP Tec. engine 3 speed. Also another one close to me complete less engine in excellent shape 100.00. I don't think they are that hard to find, or real desirable to collect.
jusjeepn 59 #5 Posted September 27, 2011 I think every tractor Wheel Horse/Toro ever made was a one year only tractor... :banghead:
KC9KAS 4,744 #6 Posted September 29, 2011 I recently aquired a Work Horse 700 too. Mine looks pretty good for not being restored, but I don't have any spark. I guess the points are behind the flywheel?? The wiring is also in a state of needed repair, but I haven't found a wiring diagram for the diode set-up.....any help out there for this? The key switch is shot, and NLA. I am thinking of using a different switch and add a solenoid for the starter, but I still need some info on the diode business of this tractor. jachady 130 #7 Posted September 29, 2011 I decided not to buy it. Wrong engine, bad sheet metal, missing pieces. The only thing good was the original Wheel Horse tires. The guy was asking $200. If anyone here is interested, I could try to get a pic.
