It's the wire from the field that needs to be attached to the stud that is difficult to connect. If you need more details about how I did the ones in the thread Mike referred to, please PM me. Electro12WH 50 #4 Posted September 21, 2011 There is some misunderstanding about which starter this is. This is a American Bosch gear drive starter with a wound field and two brushes, pictured on page 8.22 of the current service manual. The positive brush appears to be soldered on to the field wire. The negative brush is riveted to the steel end cap. After discussing this with Rmaynard, I went to the Toro dealer for advise. He states that the replacement pos. brush comes with a copper wire pig tail which can be fastened/soldered to the feild wire. Alas, when he looked up the brush kit part#, they are NLA!
