catman81056 3 #1 Posted June 15, 2008 I've had my Moms Lawn Chief for a few months now, rebuilding the deck and doing R&R on the drive train. Finally got the deck spindle and extra bearings today. Took about 1 1/2 hrs to get everything in running condition. Called Mom to tell her to be ready and she told my that she had my payment all lined up. "Thats nice" I told her "but you paid for the parts, the least I can do is put them in, no charg." Just like my Mom, always giving(doesn't everyone's?) and wanting nothing in return. She said that my nephew was selling his Cub Cadet for cheap($75.00) so she bought it. Said it was a combo surprise for fixing her mower and Fathers day. So, it comes with a deck, snow plow, and extra tires w/chains. My nephew told me that the Hydro Trans and the hydrolic lift both work. The carb needs a kit and the deck needs some attention. Oh well. I would have been happy with a hug and a kiss, but hey, Mom's seem to know what makes their boys tick. At least mine does!!! Happy Fathers Day to all!!! T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,597 #2 Posted June 15, 2008 Tim, I'm not that up to CC models, but if I remember my Cub Cadet 101, the 1450 is a desirable model, or at least a little desirable. Then again, I'm not that familiar in CC talk.
perry 82 #3 Posted June 15, 2008 i just sold a 1450 last week. pretty sweet tractor. that hydro would really rip it up when taking off.
big mike 13 #4 Posted June 27, 2008 Catman, check the isolation mounts for the motor. Those can and do wear out and will cause the motor to be loose in the frame. If left long enough the oil pan can be damaged. If you replace the ISOs save the top ones to use on the bottom and use the rubbers from a Chevy sway bar link repair kit for the tops.If you have a welder you can tie the "rails" together to help support the motor. catman81056 3 #5 Posted June 28, 2008 Thanks for the info Mike. After getting the tractor and rebuilding the carb I've found that the engine runs great. No noise or smoke. The rest of the tractor was pretty well "wore out". Steering , front axle, spindles, the hydro worked but with limited capacity. I ended up pulling the engine along with the complete mid-lift assymbly. Their on Craigslist along with the plow. It would have cost quite a bit to fix it up proper and I'd rather put that $$$$ into one of my Wheel Horses (no offense intended).
big mike 13 #6 Posted June 30, 2008 If you would't mind, could you send me a link to it? I may have Cub-buddies interested in it. Thanks. Mike
