earthscience8 0 #1 Posted September 5, 2011 I am in the process of "attempting" to rebuild my first tractor engine. This is the first time that I have attempted something this complex with very little training or knowledge. The link(s) below should show the pictures of the the initial stages of the rebuild. There was no compression in the rear cylinder hopefully due to the the valve not sealing, which you can see in one of the photos. I will update new photos of the valve job soon. I am looking for a service manual that includes the torque settings and also waiting to order a gasket set from onan.com when it reopens Sept 6th, they are on vacation fishing. - Any advice would be great. - Thanks - PHOTO in the link below - Onan rebuild - http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0GbMm7Rm4ZuZg

shorts 182 #5 Posted September 6, 2011 :thumbs2: order a rebuild/service manual directly from onan and follow their recommended proceedure step by step to get a high quality rebuild. measurements and specifications are critical, if all or any of the parts are marginal or not in spec repair or replace the questionable parts or don't waste your time putting it back together, it won't run right and usually costs a lot more to do it twice than to do it right the first time. good luck

You will have to print it out, about 50 some pages. It has the specs you are looking for. E-mail me at e-mail address below, and put "Onan P220 manual" in the subject line. sam.pelphrey@nov.com
