NEED SOME HELP WITH MY MOWER DECK

Recommended Posts

Wheel Horse Kid

I am trying to get my 48" side discharge mower deck off of my 1986 Wheel Horse 312-8. It is a attach a matic system.

This is what I have done thus far:

I have lowered the mower deck and put the height of the deck to the lowest setting. I have turned the wheels to the left.

This is my problem:

The attach a matic knob of the front of the tractor will not move either to the right or the left. I have lubricated it with WD-40 to try to loosen it up, but it will still not move at all.

Is there something that I doing wrong or have not done right?

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Try hitting the left side (knob/rod) with a hammer. You gotta push it in for the mule to release.

The knob won't turn...

Take the deck off and slide it forward to remove tension on the mule drive system. Remove the belt from the deck THEN remove the mule drive so you can get to the threaded rod to inspect it and see what is wrong.

Not sure I read you clearly- the mule drive I'm sure you know needs to be

loosened by turning the adjustment knob clock-wise. This should not be difficult any which way you can. It is not necessary to remove the MD. After that, get the belt out of the way, and undo the mid-mount latch. Pull the deck out. If the mule drive adjustment is frozen, well I can't imagine why that would be. I must be confused.
