mrc 956 #1 Posted September 3, 2011 hi guys, a little while back i picked up a C160. i think its a 1973 or 1974. i'm not home right now so i cannot provide the model number. the machine appeared clean and original. its an 8 speed. i always thought the C160 should be an automatic (hydro)?? i also thought a C161 or C165 would be the 8 speed??? in other words, model number ends in zero = hydro. model number ends in 1 or 5= 8 speed. can someone explain this to me. thank you. mike in mass. oldnugly 2 #2 Posted September 3, 2011 The "C" series was intro'd with the 1974 models. They were available as either "8-speed" or "Automatic" and designated by a small decal on the sides of the dash column. My C-160 8speed is an awesome machine. Others will help you with your model/serial nbr. questions.
C-Series14 15 #3 Posted September 3, 2011 You are confusing the "0" "1" "5" designation with the middle number on the 60's models. It breaks down this way...1974-1977 ends in a "0", 1978-1979 ends in a "1" and 1980-1984 ends in a "5". That is basically for the C-Series. The A, B, and D Series were all different. A-Series ended in "0" "1" "5" B-Series ended in "0" "1" "2" "5" C-Series ended in "0" "1" "5" D-Series only ended in "0" Back to the Buckeyes!!!
