rthomp26 6 #1 Posted August 30, 2011 So I am putting the final touches of getting my tractor back together and I just pulled the rope out of the recoil. I dealt with this alot while I was tearing it down but thought I had it whipped. I've tried several different pieces of rope and even had cable working good at one point until I even pulled it out. I wonder if anyone has any tips such as correct length and diameter? Or is cable the way to go and how do I get that just right? Thank you. :thumbs2:
wallfish 15,985 #2 Posted August 30, 2011 Go to a lawn mower shop and get a new rope or cut one off an old lawn mower. Are you breaking it or is the knot coming loose? You shouldn't be at the end of the rope when pulling the starter so it sounds like the rope is too short.
rthomp26 6 #3 Posted August 31, 2011 i ended up going back to original by using a cable. The problem was the cable kept pulling out. My solution was to replace the stock washer that holds tesion on the cabe iside with a larger diamerter fender washer. More surface area to hld down pressure. Works like a charm now. thanks for the reply.
