Horseboy 0 #1 Posted August 22, 2011 Ok.....Ive been messin with my 857. Make a long story short, I have a hh100 tecumseh, no spark. So ill hold off. My horse came with an old 8hp briggs with a two piece flow jet carb. I rebuilt the first carb and it leaked like all hell. Got another two piece and opened it up, looked brand new. Replaced the gaskets etc, leaks like a siv. I have had this briggs idling, and even drove it. Runs strong when it runs.... I know my issue lies in the carb. I have the briggs service manual, but do not have feeler gauges, to determine the warp....It says if its over .002 between the upper and lower it should be replaced. These carbs are not cheap new....and tend to be over tightened by owners used. My question is a carb swap. would any 8hp briggs carb work? Im a welder by trade but Im assuming that flanges ring true among similar 8hp carbs...... I dont want to buy a new engine just because I have carb issues. -Sean
