You Never Know When They Will Pop Up

Recommended Posts

So I was at a car show today at the local fair grounds. At the same time, they had some of the go-carts racing too. So we walked down to watch for a little bit to kill some time.

While we were down by the track, I noticed a barn that had a big sign that said "Agricultural Tractor Museum" on it. So me and my dad took a walk and we went in. It was mostly the larger Farmall's and John Deere's, but tucked to the side, I saw the familiar round nose hood of an old RJ Wheel Horse. My heart skipped a beat as I quickly walked over to it. My dad looked at it and was like "What is it?" and I explained what it was, and he says "Wow, that's pretty cool". I also dragged my mom in to see it, and she thought it was the cutest tractor lol. It looked so out of place amongst the bigger tractors, but it was by far my favorite.

Yes, I know you guys are thinking "this thread sucks without pics", so I took a few on my phone, since I had forgotten my camera at home /:

So, here they are. Just goes to show that you never know when these little guys will pop up.

Funny TT-

Looks nice but the hood decal is wrong. That is a suburban decal.

Funny you said that TT, I just looked in Stevebo's signature line, and see that he too is from CT like me, and not too far of a ride from where this tractor was.

EDIT: Scratch that Stevebo, about an hour ride.

I was at the Bridgewater fair today watching the tractor pulls (garden tractor) and did not see this display so I know it was not there.... Where was it?

Berlin Fair-Grounds. I was there for the car show, took my other horse there, and the museum was on the fair-grounds property.

Looks like a 56 to me with a later steering wheel, engine, & hood decals like Steve said. It even has the brake kit! :thumbs2: Very Nice. Thanks for sharing!

I am not too knowledgeable on RJ parts, so would you mind informing me a little about this "belt guard" you speak of?

I'm sure the hood decal was just to get the name on it. It has a smooth hood, and until the last couple years, the correct decals were about impossible to find.

And the belt guard Bob mentioned is the little guard on the right side under the variable speed selector. It is the PTO belt shield for the early LMR-30 front reel mower. You think the mowers are hard to find.... try finding that guard when you need one! Just like anything else... the little accessory parts that aren't attached to the main unit are often forgotten about when attachments are sold or traded.

I see, thanks for the info, I always enjoy learning new bits of info about these things.

When I was walking out, there were two gentlemen talking about it, one of which I think was the owner, and said something about that there was a deck on it, but they took it off cause it was in rough shape. I wonder what they did with it.
