Fuel Pump

Recommended Posts

JC 1965

I took apart my neighbors fuel pump off his old K321 to replace the diaphragm with a diaphragm out of another fuel pump. His pump has the primer lever, I had never taken one of these apart before. I just assumed the diaphragms were the same but they're not. I couldn't get the diaphragm out of his pump. When I tried to turn the diaphragm 1/4 turn and lift out it didn't work. Then I noticed the end of the diaphragm shaft on his pump is round and just turns down inside the pump housing. :woohoo: Soooooo has any one else had this problem? Will this pump have to be scrapped? I've never seen any rebuild kits with that type of diaphragm shaft. :ROTF: Any help appreciated!! :D

I have seen them on generator engines and pump engines. I have one and thought it would be nice on my brothers K301 when I rebuilt it. :woohoo: it leaked . so the regular style was put on, so I have never tries to repair it yet.

i have one on the 1054. was leaking where the shaft/lever is. never pulled it apart as it was working well, only thing i did was remove the lever/shaft from the body and replace the seals they have on the ends. still weeps a little, but that shaft was a pain in the butt to get situated in there. its like two different shafts together working the same in one direction (pump)and independently the other (suction).- or is that the other way around :woohoo: .

the lever is nice but i would rather just have a better sealed shaft on a standard pump.
