Calebintn 1 #1 Posted August 13, 2011 I rebuilt the starter/gen on the 854 & it works great but I have no spark at the plug or points. Tried a new plug, new points & new coil with no luck. The tractor is rigged up w a starter solenoid & i plan on tearing it completely down for a restore but I really want to hear it run before I do. Can anyone point me in the right direction or reccomend a thread? P.s. The battery is bran new & hot :woohoo: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Kelly 1,028 #2 Posted August 13, 2011 Just to hear it run, hook a wire from the pos. post of the batt. to the pos. side of the coil, if everything is good it should have spark, if not, run some sand paper between the point contacts, let us know if that does not work. Oh don't leave the wire hooked up if not running it will burn the points up. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
