Calebintn 1 #1 Posted August 11, 2011 I just rebuilt the starter generator and went to hook it up and noticed this solenoid. I hooked up the battery cables and when I turn the key the solenoid clicks. I have a new battery so thats not the problem. The po stated he used it mow with until last year when the generator seized, so I would assume it wired atleast good enough for a test run. This doesnt look original, so why would it have been added? rmaynard 15,937 #2 Posted August 11, 2011 The solenoid was probably added to prevent the key switch from failing. Since those models had full current flowing through the switch when engaging the starter, solenoids were added to take the load off the switch.
