Steve in Mo 3 #1 Posted August 10, 2011 So I have been reading all the old posts about Techy engines to get myself up to speed on my H60 in a 1966 Lawn Ranger L106. Way back in July of 2009 gino posted some great pictures of the engine he had just finished. The exaust system looks to be galavanized pipe but he has it all shinned up. How does that happen. Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted August 10, 2011 Not sure about the tractor your talking about, but galvanized pipe will never shine, in fact you should not use galv. pipe the fumes burning off could make you sick, black pipe was used factory, but I have used stainless water pipe, it can be polished, but will turn a gold color with heat. 305 380 #3 Posted August 10, 2011 i think you are talking about this: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?...topic=11047&hl= hard to tell by the pictures what he did , it sort of looks like stainless steel to me. if i was really concerned about my exhaust i'd have it high temperature ceramic coated. i have had many exhaust systems done on cars and it holds up well. the exhaust manifolds on my `28 ford tudor sedan was done over 15 years ago and still looks nice. these guys have done it for me , but i'm sure there is someone in your area that can do it/ probably could have it done for less than $50 http://www.newimagecoatings.com/ Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Martin 2,133 #5 Posted August 11, 2011 those pipe fittings look the same as the ones i used on my 1054. i got them from mcmaster carr and they are stainless steel. they could be polished up the same with a bit of work.... regardless of how good you polish them up though. if you use the tractor and run it for any decent length of time its not going to stay that way. Coadster32 793 #6 Posted August 11, 2011 There's another member her on RS, that used a chrome plated handicapped grab bar, (the ones on the wall in a handicapped bathroom), for an exhaust pipe. Steve in Mo 3 #7 Posted August 11, 2011 Thanks to all for the info. This unit will get some work and certanily get use without the deck riding grand kids around.
