JimD 3,347 #2 Posted August 9, 2011 A new air filter and a set of points would be a good thing to do also. :woohoo:
tunahead72 2,546 #3 Posted August 10, 2011 A new air filter and a set of points would be a good thing to do also. Good advice, I would also replace the condenser at the same time. I would also take off the cooling shrouds and clean the fins. And before you start her up again, install an inline fuel filter if you don't already have one. If you're feeling really energetic, and depending on what kind of care it's had in the past, you might consider some other things as well: [*:3qyrkf5u]Take off the cylinder head, clean off all the carbon you can get to, make sure the head is flat, and install a new gasket.[*:3qyrkf5u]Pull the carburetor and give it a good cleaning.[*:3qyrkf5u]If you remove the carb, you may as well also pull and clean the breather assembly. You could also consider adjusting the valves, but that's a pretty involved procedure on the K161, so if it's running well as you say, I'd probably leave them alone.
