todays haul

after a lucky break and sweet talking the missus I made a trip back up north (having driven down from Edinburgh yesterday). Thats 1700 miles I've done in the the last 7 days :woohoo:

400 of them collecting wheelhorse parts!!!!! picked up a commando 8 axle and parts from deepest Shropshire on thursday.

An interesting trip as the the guy selling the spares collected wheel horses....and then...

cut them up up for the chassis rails, hood stand and hood. The rest was discarded as they have no place in lawn mower racing :ROTF:

It's a shame as he only buys shortframes as those make the best racers, he'd had 3 commando 7's in the last few years and cut them up.

However the conversions were fascinating and surprisingly he ran kohler 241s in them - practically direct drive to the rear axle!

Anyway, heres the pics of todays stuff :D

Thanks to Eddie (mhirst121's neighbour) for parting with them. Looking forward to cleaning them up and getting them back on the tractor.

I'm missing a few parts - the plough direction/lock handle, so if anyone in the UK has one spare of knows of one I'd appreciate it.

The mouldboard plough has a few pieces missing and most importantly no hitch, so I'm looking to buy/fabricate another of those - as well as making the rest of the linkage.

The deck is in way better condition than my own, but that is gone to my brother already!!

Looks like you got yourself a mixed bag of goodies Mark, hope for the PO sake that isn't fire damage to the deck. :ROTF: That depth wheel will certainly help keep the plough "in". :D I see the broken adjuster, but the hitch is there, or am I missing something? :woohoo:

Nice score Mark ,that snow plough is gonna come in real handy soon, providing we get another fall like last year

in answer to can whlvr s question about snow in the uk,

We had snow last year that covered the whole country , and last about a month

snow seems to fall mostly in the North of Uk and Scotland gets snow every year while London hasnt really had a big snow fall for about 25 years up untill yhe last couple of years.

Rex, It's not fire damage, someone has started to clean the paint and grime from the deck leaving rust!!!!

That's one hell of a depth wheel as you say. I'm trying to envisage the force needed on the hitch to lift that thing out of the ground. :D

About a quarter of what we got 25 years ago, and everyones forgotten how to drive - in fact survive in it....

This year we had around 2 weeks of snow, 4-6 inches where I am in the valley, 12 on the hills - which is literally less than a mile away :woohoo:
