tunahead72 2,546 #4 Posted August 8, 2011 The "maximum operating RPM" specified in the Kohler service manuals for the K141 through K341 engines is 3600 RPM (the 4 HP K91 max. is 4000 RPM). The information I've seen in Wheel Horse manuals says they should be set at 3400 max. RPM, with no load. I have a couple of K241s on my machines, and this is where I'm keeping mine these days. shorts 182 #6 Posted August 9, 2011 without looking at the power curve I would imagine that the max power is achieved @ 3400 and has the engines set to that and recommend that for the best life and performance, 1800 and 3600 rpm are the magic numbers that the generator people like to use to get 60 hz ac electricity that we use in the US, in other parts of the world 50hz is popular and 1500 and 300rpm are the magic numbers
